Best ACT Prep Books
The best ACT study guides for ACT students.
The Official ACT Prep Guide 2016-2017 is the bestselling resource for students gearing up for the ACT test. The 2016-2017 version of the ACT guide includes a number of changes, including reading test sections with two shorter prose passages and the enhanced writing test's prompts.
Three new full-length practice tests help you assess your readiness so you can spot weak areas well in advance, and the ACT experts provide valuable advice on preparing both mentally and physically so you can manage anxiety and be fully confident on test day.
The Official ACT Prep Guide 2016-2017 continues to be the most essential preparation guide for the ACT, because it is the only source of official test questions—the practice ACTs in all other books are nothing more than subpar imitations of the real thing. Seeing that this updated version of the ACT has already been around since the September 2015 administration of the exam, the publication of this book is long overdue…but it's better late than never.
The Real ACT Prep Guide with CD is the only book with insider test-taking tips and strategy, practice, and insight from the makers of the ACT. This is the only guide that includes 5 previously administered, full-length ACT tests.
I highly recommend you buy this book instead of books written by test-prep companies like The Princeton Review, Kaplan, and the like. Those companies have neither the resources nor the motivation to make their practice tests highly accurate representations of the real ACT. Most students and parents, unfortunately, are not familiar enough with the real ACT to realize this until test day.
The best ACT prep books for ACT students. We believe these books will help you with your ACT prep.
The Princeton Review does a fantastic job of recasting actual ACT problems by taking original questions from old ACT's and changing some of the descriptions and values. This is especially the case in the Math and Science texts. The English tasks have their own peculiarities, including rules that never come up on the ACT (difference between lay and lie, e.g.) and actual errors in their own tests (misplaced modifiers that are not identified as such). Overall, it represents a great way to continue working beyond the trim bounds of the Real ACT Guide.
Kaplan's ACT 2016 is completely revised for the updated ACT and covers every concept tested. It provides you with exactly what you need to know to score higher on this crucial exam. This powerful study guide includes:
* 6 full-length practice tests with detailed answer explanations
* An online center with additional practice questions, video tutorials, and more!
* DVD with 12 video tutorials from top Kaplan instructors
* Tips and strategies for scoring higher from expert Kaplan ACT instructors and students who got a perfect score on the exam
Exactly what I was looking for: an easy to use and compelling study guide for the act for my little sister.
An ACT test score of 36 represents test-taking perfection. College-bound students who approach this score are more likely to gain acceptance into the nation's finest colleges. Use The Red Book for practice because it contains five real past tests to practice on. (We ended up using almost every section of all five exams.) But The Red Book offers no real tips. For that, use the ACT 36 book and pay careful attention to what they say. It's very good advice, particularly the section about Reading and how to attack reading passages.
This book is not meant for beginners. Students should have basics covered first before taking this book to improve scores. My daughter's counselor recommended her this book.
The "ACT Prep Black Book" gives you unique, effective ACT strategies from Mike Barrett, an ACT tutor with clients all over the globe who pay him hundreds of dollars an hour for phone tutoring. The Black Book works best when used with the authentic ACT questions in the "Red Book," which is the Real ACT Prep Guide, 3rd Edition, by ACT, Inc. The Black Book shows you how to beat the ACT, while the Red Book gives you real ACT questions to practice with.
As an educator I find this book to be the absolute best supplement to the Real ACT Prep Book. It truly helped my students. I can't wait to see what they score on the upcoming September ACT test. I strongly recommend this book.
